Although Lion Darrell was born and raised in the state of Michigan, he has wanted to live in WV since 1973. He got his chance to move here in 1983. He became a Lion in 1993, and transferred to the Charleston Gold Dome Lions Club in 2004.
He was immediately put on the Board of Directors and served as Club Chaplain that first year. Since then he has served as Club President 5 times, having been made a Melvin Jones fellow in 2004 and a Leonard Jarrett recipient in 2008. He also received an International Presidents Commendation in 2008. He has attended 2 WV Lions Leadership Schools and 2 WV State Conventions.
Lion Darrell has served District 29-O in the following capacities: Zone Chairperson for PDG Donna Pinkerman in 2007, PDG Herb Richardson in 2009 and PDG Eddie Queen in 2010.
He also served as the very first 2nd Vice District Governor in 2010 for PDG Eddie Queen and as 1st Vice District Governor for PDG Kris Pinkerman in 2011.
Lion Darrell is currently employed as a Revenue Agent for the WV State Tax Department and plans to retire after 27 years service in October 2011. He plans to continue his part-time employment with TicketMaster after he retires.
Lion Darrell has been married to Lion Jill Marks-Jennings since 2008 and they have 2 children from previous marriages, Michael Jennings of Culloden, WV and Heather Marks of Novi, MI. They also have 2 granddaughters, Chloe and Paige of Culloden, WV and 2 grand cats, Hannah & Cookie of Novi, MI.
